John specialises in medical and surgical retina and also has a general ophthalmology practice including cataract surgery.
Training & Experience
After training in Auckland, John spent two years at the University of Toronto, Canada, gaining extensive experience in complex cataract surgery and in the management of keratoconus. His work was recognised by the University of Toronto with their ‘Best Fellow’ Award during his fellowship.
He then spent a year in Liverpool, England furthering his skills in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery.
John has published 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and numerous other articles.

John loves going climbing – indoors and out. When he is not out scaling the heights, he is helping out at home with his delightful 3 year old twins.
